Indispensable - A Hypertext Short Story - Page 5 She took a deep breath as she got out of the station. She looked at the city and watched the life in it move in all its hurry around her as she stood still. It really seemed like it had to be the other way around. Though she was feeling the relief of being back home, she still did not have anywhere to go here or anything to do. She liked coming home but had not too many things to come back to.

Thinking about her imminent future, she thought about the fact that she would not be working the next day either. She smiled as what came to her mind immediately was to go on the website and get another round-trip ticket for tomorrow. She was wondering why her thoughts were so eager to place her back in that train instead of showing some effort to find her reasons to stay where she was at. It took her several minutes standing there to find an answer but what she arrived at made her feel a certain peace of mind.

She thought about her train and the considerable part of her life spent in it. She did indeed thought so much time had been wasted out of her life, travelling the same road again and again yet she could not deny that she liked being on that train, doing what she did. This was her life. With all the things in it that was and was not enough for her, this was her life and she had found herself smiling thinking about it.

She went back in the station and looked at her train as if looking at a loved one. This thing had become an indispensable part of her life and thinking about a life with it made her feel happier than thinking one without it. She wondered whether she could work weekends as well.
