Indispensable - A Hypertext Short Story It was the first time she stood on that station without a direct obligation. It was enough that she caught her train back. Not even that, she could easily transfer her flexible ticket to a later train like she helped many passengers do throughout the years. She could go anywhere, talk to anyone or see anywhere in that city she wanted. She didn't want any of it though. She sat by the personnel lounge reading a newspaper and did her fifteen minute walk from the station around a few neighbouring streets. In a way she knew that was how she was going to spend her time there when purchasing her tickets. She could have purchased her tickets in a way that would allow her more time there than she was accustomed to having but she had not. She had purchased them, setting her time schedule just the way it would have been if she was working. It was not what she was limited to but it was what felt right.
